HOJALATERIA PICTURE FRAME
The tin craft was introduced to Mexico by early Spanish settlers, and Oaxaca serves as a tin artisan hub today. Our tin picture frames are crafted by the Hojalateria people whose workshops serve as family heirlooms, passed down through generations. Each intricate frame is handmade, shaped into pieces of exquisite beauty. All net profit is used to better the indigenous communities of the artisans.
Mexico’s history is a crossroad between the cultures of Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Modern Mexican art is utilitarian at the core, but detailed in beautiful patterns and colors that are rooted in folk art traditions from the indigenous and Spanish eras. We showcase beautiful, hand-crated products for everyday use like shoulder bags and cell phone cases.
